On Lake Ukonjärvi you can fish and ice fish..."

Sovintovaara About a stone´s throw away from Ukonjärvi Holiday Village there is Sovintovaara, a lookout spot, with a good scenery over Lake Ukonjärvi to Lake Inarijärvi. Summers you can walk to Sovintovaara or drive by car of your own "by streamer road". Winters you can ski or drive by snowmobile to Sovintovaara.

Ivalo Ivalo is the center of population and administration of the Municipality of Inari. There are about 4500 inhabitants in Ivalo and 7200 in the whole 17400 sq. kms area of the Municipality of Inari! For the need of travellers and local people there are banks, post office and shops in Ivalo.

Inari

"31 km to the North from us there is the village of Inari.The road to Inari goes the first 10 km by the beautiful Lake Ukonjärvi where the sky reflects on lake´s calm surface and where the waves are running to the shore... Even we dogs can use poetry!"

In Inari there is much to see, handicrafts and a new and grand Sami Museum, SIIDA. If you like hiking, go and see the 250 years old wooden church of Pielpajärvi, which is about 7 km from Inari.

Lemmenjoki From the village of Lemmenjoki you can go by boat up River Ivalojoki and after that you can hike to the Gold Panning Areas to watch gold panning by traditional and modern manners... Kaamanen It is interesting to watch from the bird watching tower in Kaamanen the return of the migration birds in spring. There is a very good road with a clear roadsign from the mainroad to the bird watching tower. Sevettijärvi The road to Sevettijärvi skolt village on the way to Norway goes through beutiful landscape. From Sevettijärvi it´s only a long step to Norway, Kirkenes. Karigasniemi Karigasniemi, the part of the municipality of Utsjoki is about 150 km from Lake Ukonjärvi and from here you can easily make an acquaintance of Norway and North Cape. Utsjoki Utsjoki is about 2 driving hours away from Lake Ukonjärvi. The road to Utsjoki is paved and high-quality. In the village of Utsjoki there is much to see for example the bridge of Sami Land over the impressive River Tenojoki connecting Finland and Norway.

To see Norway and fall in love - that´s it. The fells with snow tops and the fjords calm like mirror tempt yearly millions of tourists all over the world. And not without a cause! Northern Norway is one of the most beautiful places in the world - just after Lake Ukonjärvi, of course ...
